Newtools may earn money when you click certain outbound links or when vendors pay for placement on our site. This page explains that relationship in plain language.

We believe transparency helps you research software with clear eyes. Paid relationships do not secretly rewrite our editorial standards.

1. Who we are

Newtools is a software tools directory and research product operated from Sydney, Australia.

We help people discover, compare, and decide on tools. Running that product costs money. Revenue can include:

• Affiliate commissions when you buy or sign up through certain links
• Paid placements (sponsored listings or sponsor slots)
• Other commercial products we may offer later (described at the point of sale)

2. Affiliate links

2.1 What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a tracked link to a third-party product or website. If you click it and later buy, subscribe, or complete an action the vendor rewards, Newtools (or our partner network) may receive a commission.

That commission is usually paid by the vendor or an affiliate network — not added as a surcharge you pay on top of the vendor’s normal price. In most programmes, your price is the same whether or not an affiliate cookie or tag is present. (Always confirm pricing on the vendor’s site.)

2.2 How this works on Newtools

On listing pages and elsewhere, outbound “visit” actions may go through our redirect (for example /go/...) so we can:

• send you to the official site, or to an affiliate destination when one is enabled for that listing
• measure interest (clicks) without exposing affiliate URLs in public page HTML where we design it that way

Not every listing has an affiliate relationship. Many links simply go to the vendor’s normal website.

2.3 What affiliate status does not mean

• It does not mean we tested every claim the vendor makes
• It does not mean the tool is “best” for you
• It does not mean unpaid listings are worse
• It does not mean AI answers are bought recommendations

3. Sponsored placement, and what “Featured” means

Newtools may offer paid visibility, for example:

Featured is not for sale. “Featured” is reserved for a listing our editorial team chose, which nobody paid for. Anything bought is labelled Sponsored, in a distinct colour, everywhere it appears. The two words are not interchangeable: calling a purchase “Featured” would claim an endorsement that was not earned.

Important rules we follow:

1. Labelling — paid placement is always identified as “Sponsored” in the UI, and its outbound link carries rel="sponsored".
2. Separation from pure research — paid placement is about visibility, not a secret rewrite of every comparison article or AI answer.
3. No guaranteed ranking in organic research — paying does not automatically make a tool the top editorial pick for every job-to-be-done.
4. Directory data — core listing facts should still be held to our quality bar; we may refuse or remove misleading submissions regardless of payment.

Details of products and pricing for vendors live on marketing pages such as Promote and may change over time.

4. Editorial content and AI

4.1 Blog and guides

Articles on the Blog are written to help readers research software. We may mention tools that also have affiliate programmes or paid placements. When commercial relationships exist site-wide, this disclosure applies.

We do not treat a commission as a substitute for fit, stack constraints, or honest trade-offs.

4.2 AI assistant

Where the AI assistant recommends or discusses tools:

• answers are generated from available context, models, and product logic
• they can be wrong or incomplete (see Terms)
• they are not a paid endorsement slot sold per answer
• commercial listings data and affiliate routing may still exist in the wider product when you click out to a vendor

Always verify pricing, terms, and security claims on the vendor’s site before you buy.

5. How we try to stay fair

We design Newtools so that:

• you can still find unpaid tools in the directory
• affiliate destinations are not the public identity of a listing (the official site remains the listing’s home URL)
• admin-only affiliate fields are not exposed as public listing data
• click analytics help us understand interest without selling your personal profile to advertisers

No process is perfect. If you see a placement that looks mislabelled or misleading, email support@newtools.io.

6. Your choices

You can:

• research tools on Newtools and navigate to vendors yourself (search, bookmarks, direct URLs) without using our outbound button
• use browser extensions or settings that limit tracking cookies (this may affect whether a commission is attributed; it should not change the vendor’s list price in normal programmes)
• ignore sponsored modules and use category browse / search instead

7. Material connection (advertising rules)

In plain terms: there is a material connection between Newtools and some of the tools we link to or highlight, because we may earn a commission or receive payment for placement.

We provide this page so that relationship is clear to readers in Australia, the United States, the EU/UK, and elsewhere. Local advertising and consumer rules may also require clear labelling in the product UI — we aim to meet that expectation with badges, copy, and this disclosure.

8. Changes

We may update this disclosure as our monetisation products change. The Last updated date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of Newtools after an update means you have read the revised disclosure.
